The record has zero validity, in fact his record was done by the Indonesian Navy.... so that means the divers had the ORDERS of doing so ... again another stunt to improve indonesia image. May be they should put that soldiers to find Extremist Terrorists , instead of trying to "do underwater stunts"
Cheers

May be they should spend more money in Police and anti-terrorist groups, instead of silly scuba stunts...

I was there! As a foreigner accompanying 18 Indonesian children, who were proud as hell to be able to participate. Although originally sharing the opinion of the writer of this comment, I changed my mind gradually seeing how extremely well the event was organized. Very little damage was done to the underwater environment (the event took place on an absolutely empty sand flat) and has been a great promotion for the dive industry in Indonesia in general. Lots of local people earn their daily income in the tourism industry, not in the least the dive tourism. For them this is a great incentive to increase this sector and thus create more jobs. You must have been there to really know what you are talking about.

Just a footnote; I am one of the foreighners that participated, my wife who is Indonesian , and and our two kids 12, & 14 joined in as well - we did the dive and you know, that as much as I started out against it, I changed my opinion two or three months before - and in the end I am glad that I participated - Indonesians kept running up to us and thanking us for participating, it was genuine , it was real - so unless you were there to feel the spirit let Indonesia have their record- we had great fun and it turned out to be a safe and fun filled day- PS I live here as well
